The 2009 Reedy Truck Race of Champions was held this past weekend at Hot Rod Hobbies in Saugus, California. Scorching temperatures hit the San Fernando Valley all week long even reaching triple digits at some points.

Team Orion’s Jared Tebo was on hand to defend his Factory Modified Truck title he won last year using Team Orion power before he signed with them a few months later. Team Orion’s Ryan Cavalieri won the Factory Truggy class and was also there to try and repeat.

In the Factory Modified Truck Class, Jared went on to TQ 3 out of the 4 rounds with his Kyosho RT5 giving him the overall TQ. Cavalieri would start 4th. Tebo went on to win A-Main #1 leading from wire to wire. Cavalieri finished 2nd with Maifield in 3rd. Cavalieri then went on to win A-Main #2. Maifield finished 2nd with Tebo in 3rd. In A-Main #3, Tebo checked out on the field and went on to take the Factory Modified Truck Championship!

Cavalieri finished 2nd overall making it Team Orion 1st and 2nd! Also running Team Orion power in the A-Main was Kyosho America/Team Orion USA Team Manager Joe Pillars and Nick Lasley.

In the Factory Truggy Class qualifying was very close. Cavalieri would start 2nd on the grid with Tebo starting 3rd for the 45-minute A-Main Event.

At the start of main Maifield, Cavalieri, and Tebo broke away from the field. At the halfway point it was now Cavalieri leading with Tebo about 5 seconds back. Tebo was going 9-minutes on a tank and would end up having one less stop than Cavalieri. With about 5-minutes to go Cavalieri came out of the pits just in-front of Tebo. The two battled would then battle it out. Tebo made a clean pass for the lead and held on for the win.

This also giving Team Orion the top 2 spots on the podium!

There was a team race and a normal race, not the maximun amount of top drivers but Bayer, Cordts, Bloomfield and Neumann did as well as they could!
