Spanish 1/10 Champs Report
The last race of the Spanish nats was in Parla, a city near Madrid on 3, 4 and 5 of September. My Serpent 733 powered with Novarossi works great since Friday, finding a good setup for the different conditions, due to hot weather, the grip decrease with the hotter temperature of the day.
The qualifying heats were on Saturday, as be expect, the first heat, with slower temperature of the track, was the faster for a lot of drivers. I could manage a round with no mistakes, so I was on 3th place while Victor Pelaez was on pole position been 2,5 sec faster than me. This result was enough to be both in the main final because the remaining three heats were slower.
For the 30 minutes main final, we need to find a good strategy, because the tire wear was high, and harder tires than 40 made the car very difficult to drive. So my plan was to be as close as possible to the leader taking care of my tires for the first 20 minutes, and start pushing hard for the last 10 minutes when other driver could be on problems with his tires. Everything goes as planned, until a touch with other driver makes my car loose the middle belt and pulley when I was 3th position, which cost me 3 minutes stop to repair. Good strategy but bad luck for me. Anyway, a great weekend for team serpent, congrats to Victor Pelaez for another winning, and for his possible Spanish Championship!
